Nick Bolton Uses Mic Time to Shout Out Mizzou

Former Mizzou defensive linebacker Nick Bolton has made a splash in the NFL recently, capped off by his recent team victory with the Kansas City Chiefs in Superbowl LVII.

His individual play has achieved milestones as well, becoming the first Missouri Tiger to ever score a touchdown in the Superbowl. Prior to this, former Mizzou defender Mike Jones was able to secure the game-winning tackle in the 2000 Superbowl for the St. Louis Rams, the most notible achievement.

But during the Superbowl parade celebration in Kansas City, Bolton gave a nod of respect to his alma matter.

After a couple of people in the crowd were here yelling “M-I-Z,” Bolton asks the crowd, “Can I get a big ol’ ‘M-I-Z?'” The crowd overwhelmingly replies with a “Z-O-U.”

Mizzou Hockey Prepares for Border War with kansas jayhawks

The Missouri Tigers hockey team rounds out the remainder of their regular season schedule with a Border War showdown against the kansas jayhawks in Kansas City.

“We’re really excited. It’s always a great turnout,” said junior forward Nick Spolec.

Spolec and his Mizzou hockey team have already qualified for the ACHA Division III National Championship to be held in Boston in March, but a sweep of the rival jayhawks on the season would be sweet.

Especially in Spolec’s hometown of Kansas City.

“We’re really excited to bring our organization back to Kansas City and show the Kansas City fans–which is a great hockey community–our program.

Also, we’ll play kansas as well,” Spolec added as a matter of fact.

In two previous Mizzou victories on the season, the Tigers are ahead on aggregate score 21-1. Those victories were at Washington Ice Park, so the question is will kansas be able to make a game of it being at the Cable Dahmer Arena?

“We’re really looking to bolster the Kansas CIty community and to have a great hockey game,” Spolec added.

So before the tall task of a National Championship, Spolec and the Tiger team look to help expand their image and visibility in the sporting hub of Kansas City. Stay tuned to the Mizzou Report for more to come on the Mizzou hockey journey.

Ryan Wingo Will Have to Choose Mizzou Over Alabama

The Missouri Tigers football team will have to overcome a major obstacle shoud they want to have any chance at a respectible 2024 recruiting class.

Five-star sensation Ryan Wingo out of St. Louis has a 37% “FanFutureCast” on Rivals.com of going to Mizzou. But it also lists medium interest and no visits for the Alabama Crimson Tide. That’s all changed.

Wingo himself confirmed the offer recently, and a recruiting visit has reportedly been confirmed as well.

The number of offers for the star wide receiver sits at 44, but this latest push by Alabama is going to be a difficult challenge to overcome for Coach Eli Drinkwitz and his staff.

Mizzou Basketball Prepares for Huge Road Test at Auburn

Mizzou hoops is on a roll after their second buzzer-beating shot of the season securing a win against then No. 6 Tennessee in Knoxville on Saturday.

The identity of this team is a throw-back to a time when Mizzou 3-point shooting supremecy lied in the hands of names like Booker, Atkins and O’Liney. But unlike their 90’s predacessor, what they lack in height, they make up for in defense and hustle. Their turnover margin is well documented. They simply find ways to win.

Rolling in to Auburn, Alabama on Valentine’s Day evening won’t be a love affair, it’ll be a battle of two teams aiming for a first round bye in the SEC Tournament in March.

Finishing in fourth position or higher in the SEC would allow Mizzou to skip the first round of games on Thursday March 9, allowing them to play against the winner of one of those games on Friday March 10.

As of Tuesday morning, a lot of excitement was already generated on Twitter by Mizzou fans. Auburn fans weren’t discussing the game as much. Will this translate into the atmosphere on the court for Mizzou’s benefit tonight? Stick with the Mizzou Report for updates prior to the game.

Tigers to Host South Carolina Gamecocks at Mizzou Arena

The Missouri Tigers basketball team will continue SEC play when they host the South Carolina Gamecocks at 8:00pm Mizzou Time at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Missouri head coach Dennis Gates will be going for his 18th win in 24 games in his first season as coach of Mizzou. That would equal the full season win totals in the first years of both Quin Snyder and Mike Anderson, respectively.

Mizzou Scores Opening Night Win Against Chippewas

(COLUMBIA, Mo)—The Missouri Tigers took the court with a guarded optimism upon hearing that three of their players would be held out for various reasons. Their worries melted away, mostly late in the second half, as the Tigers outlasted the Chippewas of Central Michigan 78-68 on Tuesday evening.

Five Tigers were into double figures on points as Mizzou was able to overcome an early run by the Chippewas that saw Mizzou down for several minutes.

The Tigers fought back with a bevy of three-point shots that were reminiscent of a Melvin Booker/Mark Atkins team. Their efforts were rewarded with an opening night victory.

One of the standout elements of the evening was the raucous student section at Mizzou Arena. SEC Network play-by-play man Ben Arnet noted on several occasions that the Mizzou student section was instrumental in assisting the Tiger team.

The Mizzou basketball team takes the court again on Monday November 15 when they host the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos. Tip-time is set for 7:00pm CST.

What Do We Do Now?

As our sports generation is now faced with a quagmire whose only modern precedent is the Spanish Flu pandemic, local sports fans have come to a menacing and gut-wrenching reality, that there are no sports to fall back on in these times of Coronavirus pandemic.

Stern warnings are being issued that this may be the toughest week for Americans yet. Pearl Harbor and 9/11 have been mentioned as equally impactful precedents.

But in the thought of progression and doing thing we have to do so we don’t drive ourselves or others nuts, here is The Mizzou Report’s ‘What Now’ list.

Don’t Inundate Me With Your Fake Sports

I’ve already had it with this frenzy of fake sports in some sort of weird effort to satisfy the desire for competition. Any type of e-sports substitution, theoretical/simulated games or fantasy sports without real competition is an annoying farce.

Countdowns are a semi-tolerable form of recent recollection on sport, but most are outdated.

College Football WILL Happen

Insiders are already saying those in the know are committed to carrying out the 2020 college football season. Even if it means moving the start of the season as far back as November, the season will happen in its entirety.

This is great news for all of the SEC, terrible news for kansas. Interesting to see however, if February becomes the new November this season in the FBS.

Andrew Kaufman is Killing It

So reporting sports during this COVID-19 quarantine has been a challenge, but ABC17 Sports Director Andrew Kaufman is putting a little sizzle into the pot, primarily by using the energy his offspring is burning behind the wheel of a stunt bike.

Aerial jumps, sick slo-mo replays and raw attitude is what you’ll get when you watch Kaufman’s home sports report. You might also get schooled on the difference between ͏bath towels and plush white blankets from Target.

Anti-Christ is Coming

So with all this COVID-19 stuff comes the conspiracy perspective, which is also what is religious perspective.

This past December, a public ceremony was held for the alter that will be used in the Third Temple that will be built in Jerusalem. Groups are declaring that construction of the temple is about the begin.

But there’s one major problem.

The Dome of the Rock, al-Aqsa mosque is there, one of the most holy places in Islam. In order to build this Third Temple, there’s going to have to be some major deconstruction activities going on.

Not only that but they apparently have their guy to put in place, who would be—you guessed it—the anti-Christ. Nothing is known until it happens, but certainly worth keeping an eye on.

So What Now?

Survive and become stronger, mentally and physically. Try to learn a language…I’m going for ten right now, no kidding.

It’s never too later to start learning something amazing, especially now. Several language groups agree you can “fluently” learn a language in less than two months, so why not give it an honest attempt?

Anyone who Tweets at the @MizzouReport or @realdanielirwin in a different language will be responded to, just be ready to carry on a conversation!

Is Liberalism Ruining Sports?

Attendance numbers all around sports, especially college sports, have seen a rapid decline over recent years. Mizzou has sadly been no exception.

Even after a hefty upgrade to Memorial Stadium, which reduced overall seat capacity by roughly a couple thousand, Mizzou has been unable to fill the stadium and produce a profitable calendar year, and it’s starting to become a trend.

So, just like any other situation where you’re wanting to figure out the cause and solution, people have blindly applied blame to everything, from the cost of the games to the fact a team isn’t playing for a championship every season.

But none of these claims hold any merit and I can say that with confidence because there are no examples or data points that show anything to support it, no predeceasing case. Not across the board on this level.

You know, evidence.

However, looking at the central point of what’s caused the most societal degradation, liberalism has been at the forefront of every unnecessary uprising that’s happened in the 20th Century up to now.

From the Black Lives Matter (which cares nothing about black lives, only complicity with neo-Marxism) movement to these indoctrinating feminist groups and instructors that seem to be promoted on every college campus in America, liberalism is the obvious social mechanism being used by higher elites to install Communism, which is liberalism.

And that’s very hard to refute when you see who funds these groups corporately.

So then the question is, is it possible—because trust and believe no writer will even entertain this possibility—that the rise of liberalism in society has caused a dislike for sports and we’re simply seeing the product of that social mentality?

I’ve brought the subject idea up a few times to various writers, and it’s always met with an immediately defensive attitude. Expected, but they certainly can’t offer up a structured defense, because there isn’t one that exists.

Why? Well that’s the point of this article.

The feminist movement didn’t necessarily make sports less popular, in fact you could even argue its helped propel women’s sports at nearly every age level. The homosexual movement of the 90’s and 2000’s sought to view sports as an unfamiliar and unnecessary form of entertainment, but even that never had a sweeping overall negative impact on how most people viewed sports.

But rooted out of the combination of both of these neo-Marxist groups came an ideology, or more of a tagline, to represent their disdain for the Christian white male: “toxic masculinity.”

While a few definitions entail things that are utter common sense like, “domestic assault is toxic masculinity,” the outline for the cause reads like a pledge to feminism. Condemning anything feminine is described as toxic masculinity. So you know…can’t criticize it or you’re guilty. Sounds like another kind of policy.

But along with both groups embracing this social stance has come new evaluations. Sports is now viewed through the judgement of toxic masculinity as something barbaric. With C.T.E. cases gaining so much attention and understanding, it’s helping propel a stigma that sports is a violent showcase that’s enjoyed by a lot of non-leftists.

The interest is lost, because not only do these kids not relate to sports, but they refuse to support an industry they essentially see as being enjoyed by homophobes and Christians.

As this becomes more of a gripping movement, expect attendance numbers to keep tanking. Mizzou, or any other team struggling financially right now, is going to need to enjoy some success that equates to dollars, there’s no other way to put it. Winning is the only recipe that can undo this destructive trend.

Obnoxious Analysis: Tigers Attack Basket, Change Fortune vs. Georgia

The Missouri Tigers had their hands full Tuesday night. Not only were they getting beat by a lackluster team they were favored to beat at home, but the team now had the restless fan base to deal with, who were already filing out of Mizzou Arena.

They knew it was coming, the criticism. They could feel it. Players aren’t blind to what their perception is, despite the fact they seldom acknowledge it.

Not again. Another loss. There’s going to be more criticism of coach Cuonzo Martin, they’re going to say the players gave up, they’re going to pick the team apart.

But then slowly, and with precision, Xavier Pinson began to hit small shots and get to the foul line. Big man Reed Nikko was able to establish a presence inside in the continued absence of Jeremiah Tilmon, and played what many local journalists referred to as the best game of his career.

Dru Smith’s 16 points were essential as well, and his chemistry with Pinson during the second half comeback was butter. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough to enable the comeback.

Defense was a key, as Mizzou had essentially allowed Georgia Bulldogs standout Anthony Edwards to have a pro-day exhibition up to that point. On draft day, when Edwards easily goes in the top-5, you’ll likely see highlights from this game at some point. But the Tigers were able to contain Edwards in a team effort, while Georgia wasn’t able to supply an answer from someone else.

But perhaps the happiest person was Coach Martin. You could tell from the tone in his voice and the words he used that the relief he’s feeling will allow him to have a much better night of sleep than he’s been getting lately. He was happy for his players that succeeded, and happy he didn’t have to go into a defensive mode to start his press conference.

It was a feel-good night all around.

The big positive in this is that Mizzou was able to win this game after abandoning what is perceived to be their primary strength, the three-point shot. Granted that Reed Nikko will not be able to win every game for Mizzou simply by taking the ball to the hoop, but with Jeremiah Tilmon expected to return this Saturday at South Carolina, there may be a new dynamic approach to the Tigers’ offense.

Relying on the three-point shot is like taking a gamble. But being able to have two legitimate threats to keep defenses guessing, might help open up the three a little bit more.

We’ll see how this game plan plays out against the Gamecocks, game time is 2:30pm Mizzou Time on SEC Network.

Comeback City: Xavier Pinson and Reed Nikko Lead 20-Point Mizzou Comeback

Mizzou was able to shake the ugly identity that’s usually associated with close games, at least since the Kim Anderson-era. It was an epic comeback that hasn’t been seen in Columbia in quite some time.

The Tigers started well, but then found themselves down by as many as 18 points in the first half before closing the break trailing 42-30 against one of the worst teams in the SEC in the Georgia Bulldogs.

Mizzou went down by 20 points with around 13 minutes remaining in the game. But, the play of Xavier Pinson and Reed Nikko got the Tigers back into the game. Pinson’s free throw shooting and field goals helped enable the comeback.

The play of Nikko down the stretch helped establish a more physical game to a winded Georgia team.

Dru Smith also had 16 points.

The Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak, winning four of their last five games against Georgia.

Mark Smith sat on the bench during the whole second half with an injury that looked painful.

Mizzou next plays this Saturday at South Carolina on SEC Network. Tip-off time is set for 2:30pm Mizzou Time.
